Bill: I understand that Albany Co CO Christopher Moffre was recently arrested for violating an order of protection for his wife. I found his testimony in Erick's trial to be very suspect. I cannot believe the judge allowed him to testify at Erick's trial.

Bob: Erick's attorney attempted to get Eric Moffre's testimony suppressed. (See Suppression hearing: erickwestervelt.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54&Itemid=105 - beginning page 80) But the Judge let his testimony in. Erick's attorney also attempted to help the jury see how week his testimony was but again this probably was not enough to sway the jury. On direct Erick was asked if he ever spoke with Moffre and Erick said not to him or to any other corrections officer.

Of course, the jury would take the word of a corrections officer over that of a defendant on trial for murder which he "confessed" to. BTW, I apologize for getting Moffre's first name wrong.
I will get up to speed shortly. I have booked a room in the Glens Falls area for Friday, July 29th and would gladly meet with any of Erick's supporters then.
On Saturday, July 30th, I will be visiting Erick up at Clinton to hear his story in person. I believe you can learn a lot more about people when you are face to face.

WNYT (Channel 13) reported yesterday (7/18/2011) that Eric Moffre was again arrested for an assault. This time with a women he's in a relationship with. So twice, within the past couple of Month's Moffre has been arrested. Once for ignoring a restraining order protecting his wife and now for assault. Both times Moffre voluntarily turned himself into Colonie police. This is the same guy who testified at trial that he overheard Erick talk about his case. Erick testified at trial that he never spoke with Moffre or anyone else about his case while in Albany County jail.

Does Eric Moffre still have his job, Bill? This is astonishing. Moffre's credibility is a little (understatement) questionable to me. I wonder how Moffre's wife feels about the girlfriend? I wonder how the girlfriend and the wife feel about Moffre and his testimony at Erick's trial?
Somewhere there has to someone who knows something about Erick's case that contradicts what the prosecution put forth at Erick's trial. I just have a feeling.
Let your conscience be your guide.

Bill: I understand that Eric Moffre was arrested again, just a few days ago. This time, I understand it is for assaulting his girlfriend. I wonder how his wife feels about the girlfriend and how both of those women think about Eric Moffre.
I just wonder if Moffre has admitted to either/both of them that he lied at Erick's trial?
Also, I am fascinated with Gray's fiancee, Jessica. She really didn't seem so broken up by Gray's murder. Is there any evidence she might have been sneaking out on Gray with someone other than Erick while she was engaged to be married to Gray?
Just asking!

Bob: I wish I could go and talk to Moffre's female friends and ask them. It would certainly be something a good detective investigating Erick's case would want to do.
On Jess, we don't know the answer to your question as no one (Including Erick's attorney's that I know of) sat down with Jess and questioned her about the events in her life leading up to Gray's death. We do know that on the stand she sought to minimize her relationship with Erick, tried to maximize the the length and type of Erick's phone calls to Gray, was very fuzzy on when her relationship with Erick began and ended, and tried to make the July 8th meeting something which was Erick's doing when she texted Erick with the words "one last time?"
Based solely on this testimony, I believe that Jess knows more than she testified at trial.
I believe that a good investigator would need to really dig into the events in both Grays life and Jess's life to find the real murderer (unless it was a random act of violence).
