Bill: Lonny Soury is currently the communications and media director for the West Memphis Three (see http://www.wm3.org). Lonny was highly instrumental in getting Marty Tankleff out of prison. Lonny now has his own blog regarding false confessions: www.FalseConfessions.org. Lonny is also life long friends with private investigator Jay Salpeter who developed the information about Glenn Harris that won Marty an evidentiary hearing (which he lost due to judicial misconduct) in front of Suffolk County Judge Stephen Braslow. However, the state appellate court overturned Judge Braslow's decision to grant Marty a new trial. Just for the record, Marty is not exonerated. Suffolk County DA Thomas Spota merely decided not to retry Marty, saying that it would be difficult to reconvict due to the oldness of the case. Now, Governor Andrew Cuomo, while AG, found that Spota did nothing wrong in his handling of the Tankleff case. The true murderers of Marty's parents are Joseph Creedon, Peter Kent and Jerry Steuerman (Glenn Harris drove Creedon and Kent to the Tankleff residence the night of the murders). None will ever see the inside of a courtroom or a prison cell. This is a great link, thanks for adding it.
I'm wondering what the process might be to get Lonny interested in Erick's case?

To be completely honest, Lonny is now getting paid to do the PR work for the West Memphis Three (www.wm3.org). Lonny got involved in Marty Tankleff's case at the request of Jay Salpeter who was a boyhood friend and did the work pro-bono (as you are) and often at great great personal expense. At the time, Lonny had (and I think still has) a public relations firm and office in Manhattan and had been press secretary for former Mayor David Dinkins where he made many media contacts. Unfortunately, I believe Lonny got divorced after Marty was released. Lonny often told me that his wife was not happy with all the time he spent on Marty's case when she felt he should be making money. I doubt that Lonny would agree to take on Erick's case for no remuneration. I also understand that PI Jay Salpeter (who did get paid for his work initially) feels that Marty has not been quite as appreciative of all the work that went into getting him out of prison as Jay thinks Marty should be.
I believe, for that reason, Erick is extremely fortunate to have you running this website. I think you have to decide that you cannot expect anything in return, even if your efforts are successful in getting Erick out of prison. Priorities for exonerees is much different once they have succeeded in getting out of prison.

I am in this, because I believe that a wrong has been committed. I believe our justice system failed in this case. If our collective efforts lead to Erick's release then that will be all the thank you I need from anyone.

That is a very good motive to have. You have already accomplished a lot Bill. I am looking forward to meeting with Erick and making a determination for myself that he is innocent. I know that you, Jan and many others all believe that Erick is innocent. However, my worst fear is telling everyone someone is innocent and they turn out to be guilty. It has happened before.
I do not know what will convince me that Erick is innocent short of proving who really murdered Tim Gray other than him.
I hope to know more once I meet with Erick.
If, in fact, Erick is innocent, the truth could be enough to set him free. Truth is a powerful thing. We may not need a bunch of Manhattan PR experts to get the word out. We just need enough evidence to convince ordinary people that Erick really didn't do this (if he really didn't).

Bill: I invite you to write the article for Campus News about Erick's case if you have the time and you want to. Darren Johnson is the owner and editor of it and it has a pretty good circulation amongst community college students throughout the entire state.
Darren said he has room for a 500 word page article to advise people of this website and Erick's case. I believe it is only right to ask you to write it and leave an e-mail address people can contact you.
Darren needs it by Friday, so if you can't do it, let me know soon.
Thanks

The Plattsburgh Press Republican is reporting that the Clinton Correctional Facility is currently in lock down due to an inmate fight that broke out on Friday Evening. This means that all prisoners are required to remain in their cell - including Erick. Erick is unable to make his normal calls to his parents until the lock down is lifted so we don't know how he is doing. Please keep Erick and his family in your thoughts and prayers. pressrepublican.com/new_today/x141817475/Clinton-Correctional-Facility-in-lockdown Bill
